Mashable has pulled together a selection of best practices for the Hotel Industry on Facebook – with details borrowed from some of the best in the business. Following these tips will almost certainly increase engagement – and more importantly, bookings through social media.
1. Brag About Your Brand
Facebook holds a wealth of opportunity for those willing/able to customise it to a brand’s strengths. Custom landing pages, giving background on the company, can provide visually interesting ways of detailing the hotel’s facilities and, more than anything, they make the best brands stand out from the many half filled in pages out there.
2. Host Contest & Giveaways
More than most businesses, Hotels have a wealth of possibilities when it comes to offering Facebook ‘likes’ a little something for nothing. Free rooms, dinner, bottles of wine or even simply discounts for ‘likes’. Encouraging others to talk about your property, and rewarding them for it, is a great way to spread the word.
3. Diversify Your Content
It’s all well and good to update status, add events and respond to reviews, but what will keep people engaged is interesting content. Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California has a fantastic example of a wedding video that make the venue look not only fantastic, but more importantly, fun. Using video as well as reviews from Trip Advisor or Yelp along with updates will make people more likely to come back regularly.
4. Offer Booking on Facebook
Many users don’t want to head leave Facebook to complete their booking process, so the best solution is to add a booking app into your Facebook page. This keeps things quick and easy for users and ensures that all your marketing efforts can be followed through instantly.
5. Great Images
Nothing sells a property more that fantastic images. People want to imagine themselves in your hotel, and images go a long way to helping them do that. They also make a less than glamorous meeting room look stylish and interesting. Ultimately, great images will encourage people to dig further and find out more about your hotel.
